about

The duet returns with a compilation of 10 songs based on maritime routes, Ibero-American folklore and exciting fusions that break all stylistic boundaries while moving us with their characteristic sound.

The Catalan singer and double bass player continue to make their way together and surprise us once again with an album inspired by sea trips and the cultural exchanges that they caused in the past. Today it is no longer necessary to take a boat to discover and learn from new cultures, which is why the duo's source of inspiration has been creating imaginary routes and musical fusions that give meaning to each of the songs on this album. Returning home after learning new rhythms and melodies makes us strengthen our own roots and allows them to be transformed without losing their essence. In this way, and without leaving the present moment, the message endures over time. A declaration of intentions.

We are facing a fresh, original and mature album, where the instrumental part is no longer limited only to Manel Fortià's double bass, as in the previous album "Fang i Núvols" (2020). Here we also find the percussion of David Domínguez as well as flutes, background vocals, bass ukulele and other small percussions that add to the sound spectrum of the band, making Magalí Sare’s voice shine with even greater intensity and gives character to this 21st century Ibero-American folklore.

1."Tornar", an adaptation of the well-known tango by Carlos Gardel "Volver" translated into Catalan and which serves as inspiration for the name of the album.

2.“Cambalache”, coincidentally another tango, which begins in Buenos Aires but suddenly makes us travel to Rio de Janeiro in the middle of Carnival.

3.“Barco Negro” originally called “Mãe Preta” and which, when traveling to Portugal during the dictatorship, was censored and its name and theme were changed.

4.The bolero “Verdad Amarga” by the Mexican composer Consuelo Velázquez.

5.“Roseret” it is a traditional Menorcan song transformed into a ranchera.

6.The traditional Portuguese song: “Senhora do Almortão”. On this occasion the rhythm is bulerías from Jerez.

7.“La Leyenda del Tiempo”, popularized by Camarón de la Isla, tinted with Sephardic airs.

8.The Brazilian song “Modinha” it has an air of experimental tango.

9.“Guantanamera”, techno-acoustic-rock between the Cuban Guajira and the flamenco Guajira.

10.An original composition based on a poem by Joan Antoni Carrau entitled "La meva àvia" ("My grandmother") with a very different sound from the rest of the album.
